Strafford County Sheriff's Office issues warning about phone scams

The Sheriff's Office of Strafford County has issued a warning about a phone scam that has been reported where scammers pose as deputies working for the office and ask for payments allegedly for fines or court fees.

The Strafford County Sheriff's Office stated that scammers were using names of current or past deputies and have also had valid information about potential victims such as their address and place of employment. The sheriff's office does not contact persons asking for payment of fines or court orders over the phone. Please do not give out personal information or any type of payment information. The sheriff's office urges residents who believe they have been targeted by a scam call to report it to their local police department and the Consumer Protection & Antitrust Division of the NH Attorney General’s Office at (603) 271-3641.
